Lisa Dal Bello, late 70's Canadian diva released her self-titled debut album for MCA in 1977 produced by David Foster featuring TOTO guys- Steve Lukather, Mike Porcaro, jeff Porcaro, David Paich and first-call musicians including Jay Graydon, Larry Carlton, Jay Gruska and Bill Champlin. Lisa mentioned that her earliest roots were in soul and funk music and she happened to really like Bozz Scaggs' music from the album with "Lowdown" on it. The album won her a Most Promising Female Vocalist Juno. In 1978, Lisa released this second album "Pretty Girls" for Canadian independent label Talisman Records, all the song on which were written by Lisa herself. The album was nominated for a Best Female Vocalist, Juno Awards in Canada. The title track "Pretty Girl" was recorded by Melissa Manchester in the same year as the leadoff track and advance single from her 1979 self-title album. In 1981, Lisa released her 3rd album "Drastic Measures" for Capitol Records. As you see, her solo debut and 3rd one would be not so difficult to be reissued because those were released for the major, but the 2nd "Pretty Girl" had been remained un-reissued for a long time although it was said as one of the good and most important records featuring Toto guys, mostly because of its master recordings rights. At last in 2011, Vivid Sound secured this reissue by contacting Stefano Dal Bello, her brother who was working with her to record 1996's "Whore" for EMI. The reissued CD will be released with mini LP style paper sleeve artworks and an unreleased material will be included as a bonus track.
